Safe Way Right Way

At Safe Way Right Way, our mission remains unwavering: to build safer roads for Africa.
In 2024, we made significant strides toward this goal. From sensitizing over 49,000 community members and 75,000 school children,
to painting zebra crossings and training nearly 500 professional drivers, our reach and impact have grown exponentially

Professional Driver Training School:
Our Professional Driver Training School in Kampala continues to break barriers. In 2024, we celebrated the training of 82 female drivers, including Uganda’s pioneer lady bus drivers. Their courage and determination are a testament to the transformative power of opportunity and inclusive training.

VIA Schools Project:
Through the VIA Schools Project, we empowered students and teachers to become ambassadors of road safety. We planted over 1,900 trees, integrated road safety into national competitions, and hosted the VIA Creative competition, where young minds showcased innovations for safer mobility.

Community Road Safety Project:
In the Albertine region, our Community Road Safety Project has been a beacon of change. We trained over 7,000 motorcyclists, deployed targeted radio campaigns in five languages, and installed billboards to reinforce safety messages. We trained 70 first responders to enhance emergency crash response capacity.

Looking ahead

Safe Way Right Way is committed to deepening our impact and expanding our reach. Our future plans include:

Scaling the Professional Driver Training School:
We aim to increase enrollment, especially among women, and introduce advanced modules in defensive driving, emergency response, and digital fleet management

Leveraging Technology and Media:
We will amplify our radio and billboard campaigns, introduce mobile-based road safety alerts, and explore digital platforms for training and sensitization.

Expanding the VIA Schools Project:
We will reach more schools across Uganda, integrate road safety into national curricula, and strengthen the VIA Safe Mobility Ambassadors program to foster leadership among students.

Strengthening Partnerships and Accountability:
We will continue to host stakeholder review meetings, gather feedback, and refine our strategies to ensure transparency and effectiveness in all our interventions.

Enhancing Community Engagement:
We plan to train more first responders, increase peer-to-peer education among boda boda riders and taxi drivers, and roll out targeted campaigns in high-risk districts.

This year, we carry forward the momentum of the past year as we continue to innovate, educate, and advocate for safer roads.
Let us remember that every life saved is a victory for all of us.
We thank our partners, especially TotalEnergies EP and the Tilenga Project, for the unwavering support.
We thank our dedicated staff, trainers, and community champions. And lastly, we thank every road user who chooses safety every day.
Together, we are building a future where every journey is a safe one.
